We were honoured to be hosted at Parliament House on Tuesday night, for a small and intimate reception recognising the contribution of Greek businesses and professionals to the Northern Territory.
Hosted on behalf of the Chief Minister by Minister Jinson Anto Charls MLA, the event highlighted the Greek community’s long-standing leadership, entrepreneurship and investment in the Territory.
The evening also acknowledged HACCI NT’s growing national and international role, including the NT holding the HACCI National Federation Chair in 2026, and our work to strengthen connections with European chambers and diplomatic partners.
The Australia–EU Free Trade Agreement was acknowledged as an area to watch for potential opportunities for Territory industries, with the Finocchiaro Government expressing its commitment to working with HACCI NT to support local businesses in navigating future developments.
We are grateful to all our members who came along. It was a valuable opportunity to reconnect, exchange ideas and strengthen our community ties.
Bringing skilled workers to the NT
Workforce shortages remain a consistent concern raised by our members, so HACCI NT has been meeting with government and industry to understand the practical options available to NT businesses.
On 18 March, we met with Pompea Sweet, Senior Director of Strategic Policy – Workforce, Migration & Population (NT Government), to discuss current visa pathways and the real‑world experiences of employers navigating skilled migration.
A follow‑up industry meeting on 28 April with Nick Wallace (Agrecruit) and Ed Wall (GE Solutions) explored practical pre‑ and post‑placement support models that can help businesses bring workers to the NT more smoothly.
These conversations are helping us build a clearer picture of what actually works in practice so our members can avoid the frustrations others have faced.
Strengthening Australia–Europe Business Links: A National Conversation
HACCI NT was also represented at the Europe Day event, where national discussions around Australia–Europe business collaboration continued to build momentum. HACCI NT Welcomes the Ambassador of Greece for Strategic Dialogue in Darwin
An intimate discussion with our HACCI NT Patron Hon John Anictomatis AO, His Excellency Mr Venizelos, Ms Lara Tikaidi Venizelos, and HACCI members Yiannis Alexopoulos, Tony Halikos, Nomiki Vlahos and Fotis Papadakis.
HACCI NT was honoured to welcome the Ambassador of Greece to Australia, His Excellency Mr Stavros Venizelos to Darwin this week.
Over a coffee with a small group of HACCI NT members and the Hon. Consul of Greece in Darwin, Hon John Anictomatis, we shared stories of third-generation Greek businesses and our deep ties to this region — where family, hard work, and community spirit remain at the heart of our identity.
Our conversation touched on key opportunities for collaboration between Greece and the Northern Territory — including advanced manufacturing, construction, skilled migration, tourism, and education.
We were proud to hear the Ambassador acknowledge HACCI NT’s contribution during his conversations at Fusion Darwin 2025, where he highlighted our role in “turning relationship capital into real economic opportunity.”
